Narrative Therapy takes a respectful, non-blaming approach that views problems as separate to the individual and sees each person as the expert of their own lives and healing process.
As humans, our experiences are made up of stories, narratives, that we construct and attach meaning to. We have stories about our lives, ourselves, our relationships, our history, our interests, our strengths and our downfalls. These stories that we create over time can influence our feelings and behaviour, and if dominated by anxiety/fear or negative beliefs, can lead to unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
Narrative therapy engages you in 're-authoring' or 're-narrating' in your conversations and self-dialogue, to support you to see another perspective (another story) and build on alternative narratives that encourage you to navigate through difficult emotions and work towards mental wellness.
